Open Question: Why do so many VW New Beetle owners keep flowers in their cup holder?

I’ve seen a trend with these cars. About 1 out of 4 VW new Beetle cars has a flower in the cup holder. What does this mean? I never see flowers in cup holders on any other type of car.
